My Fight Against SIDS - Striving to Raise Awareness of SIDS & SUDI
About My Fight Against SIDS (MFAS)

MFAS was created by two mothers who diligently strive to support those who have experienced the loss of a child and prevent infant death. MFAS supports the communities within Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

The dedication of these mothers is inspired by their own story, as each has lost a child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexplained Death of Infancy (SUDI).

MFAS's mission is to promote the importance of infant health, by sharing all risk factors of SIDS and SUDI. This is conducted by a variety of awareness events within the community. In addition, MFAS will support all families in need. Support is provided by facilitating women support groups, remembrance celebrations, birthday celebrations, seminars, etc...

MFAS' Reasons to Fight Against SIDS
Latika's Reason to Fight

Viktoria Rahchelle Amor Wilson was born in Silver Spring, Maryland on Monday, March 21, 2005 @ 2:13 pm and passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005 @ 12:33am, from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Each year, more than 2,000 families are affected by the sudden loss of a child. I was blessed to have a daughter that brought me much joy, laughter, and love. It is my God-given purpose to turn the love I received from Viktoria, to love and support the many families who lost children and educate new parents of the #1 killer of Infants: SIDS
I love you, Viktoria...Mommy

Lucinda's Reason to Fight

Adalius Xavier Easley was born in Silver Spring Maryland on October 17, 2007 and earned his wings on June 17, 2008 from Sudden Death in Infancy or SUDI. Hezekiah Walker has a song called, "The Will of GOD" and in this song it says, " if we could just learn to accept the things we cannot change." I am learning to accept the fact that Adalius is no longer here and I cannot change that. However I can change how the world views SIDS/SUDI.

As Latika stated, approximately 2,300 infants have died from SIDS/SUDI  but when you compare that number to the number of lives lost to HIV/AIDS or Cancer it becomes a small number. That number may get lost in the media coverage and major sponsorships for other causes. The pain of loosing a child is not small.  That is the reason that I fight.

Adalius was the youngest of my four children and I'm blessed to have had him in my life. I know he is in heaven smiling down on us and I will see you soon.
We love you! Mommy, Pareece, Jr & Trinity
